Saphira has invested in the highest quality medical grade Radio Frequency assisted E-Light IPL technology which have been proven to offer a safer and more superior result.
Laser hair removal, and IPL both work by converting light energy into heat energy, high enough to damage the hair follicle by targeting the melanin in that hair follicle.
Light travels through the skin to the base of the follicle where it is absorbed by the pigment surrounding the hair follicles. The hair follicles are progressively damaged and can no longer grow hair. IPL and Laser Hair Removal have been described as feeling similar to having a small rubber band flicked against your skin but most clients describe the procedure as relatively painless.
What should I expect after my treatment?
You must have no sun exposure for 14 days after your treatment. It can take 2 weeks for the hair to fall out completely and many clients find an exfoliating towel very helpful.
The number of treatments required depends on the area being treated and can be influenced by sex, age and hormones. Usually between 6 – 8 treatments are required when using a medical grade IPL or Laser system. Treatments are conducted anywhere from between 4 to 12 weeks apart depending on the area treated.
What is the difference between IPL and Laser hair removal?
The difference between Laser and IPL technology is in the light source and the wavelength used.
IPL technology uses an array of different light wavelengths depending on the client skin colour and the colour of the hair to be treated. Advanced IPL systems also offer integrated cooling for maximum comfort and safety.
Laser technology laser uses a single, precise wavelength, to target the melanin the hair follicle exactly.
How do I prepare for Laser Hair Removal treatment?
You need to either shave or use depilatory cream on the area you want treated one day before you come in or you can trim the area on the day of the treatment.
This will assist in making the treatment less painful and more effective. You must also have no sun, solarium or fake tan on the area 2 weeks before your treatment.
Which is better for permanent hair removal results IPL or Laser?
Not all IPL and laser systems offer energy levels necessary to offer permanent hair reduction and integrated cooling for patient safety and comfort.
The term ‘Permanent Hair Reduction’ refers to a clinical result achieved through using a device Laser or IPL, which disables hair re-growth mechanisms by raising the temperature of the hair follicles high enough to damage the follicles germinative cells.
We use both laser and IPL systems that are TGA (therapeutic goods Administration) licensed for use in permanent hair reduction treatments. At Saphira your personal assessment and review ensures that we customised the best possible program, for the safest and most efficient result. Most areas require a minimum of six to eight treatments with appropriate time in between treatments to allow new hair growth. The time between treatments depends on body area and the individual client.
